In 2015 the Security and Exchange Commission signed off on new regulations under the JOBS Act allowing average investors to buy equity in startups on crowdfunding platforms—think Kickstarter but with actual equity for sale, not just trinkets in exchange for a donation.
Startups will now be able to raise serious amounts of money, and it’s going to be based on merit and on the skill and ability of the entrepreneur to communicate.
It’s not going to be dependent on whom you know or if you happen to have good access to VCs and Angel Investors.
To get a deeper understanding of how entrepreneurs stand to benefit from the new equity crowdfunding regulations we’re chatting with serial entrepreneur, Silicon Valley Angel Investor, and DreamFunded co-founder, Manny Fernandez.
Recently named by Inc. Magazine as one of the 33 entreperneurs to watch in 2016, Manny is an equity crowdfunding thought leader whose platform, DreamFunded, provides pre-screened and proven investment opportunities for investors.
Manny shares what an entrepreneur needs to know to raise capital from this new crowd of investors.
